Our Story.

Torii Jujitsu started its life in 1976 as Kempo Juitsu in London. It is now a mix of traditional and modern Jujitsu styles, we maintain the traditional throws locks and strikes, but have developed new methods of self defence in our knife defences and sparring.
Torii Jujitsu was founded by Shihan Keith Power 7th and is based in South East London.
The Bexleyheath Dojo opened in Jan 2026 after starting life as Crayford Dojo in 2011, before moving to its new home.
We welcome new students to come and train with us and in this vein will give the first 2 lessons free, so you can come and have a look, get a feel for the club and develop an understanding of our outlook and whether Jujitsu is for you, we teach Jujitsu in a fun relaxed atmosphere, where respect is key, both to each other and the art.
Jujitsu is not a sport, and as such you cannot compete in our style, it is a martial art developed from the battle fields of ancient Japan, used by the Samurai in unarmed combat or if they had lost their Katana (Samurai sword), and uses every available advantage to off balance and disengage from threatening situations. As such it is widely used by police forces and the military the world over even being further developed into other well-known styles.
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.
Sir Winston Churchill
